last year, one of our local vancouver photogs, chris+lynn, started this amazing yet simple mission that spread like wildfire in the photog industry and beyond..

it's simple -
you get comments on your blog for a said number of days, and those comments represent one can per comment for the local food bank.
what a fabulous to give this season!!

brilliant, no!? :)

THE GIFT OF LIFE - extension for photo deadline!!

Hi all!

We have been getting a bunch of photographs coming from you - THANK YOU! In light of the fact that we have secured the exhibition gallery (the Little Mountain Gallery at 26th and Main) for Feb 3-10th, I would like to extend the deadline one last time to allow more photographers to participate.

Deadline is now Dec 31st, 2009. (This will allow enough time for us to get the photos ready for display). This will be the last time we are extending it. Get your entries to Eric asap!

Davie Day Photowanderings - Sat Sept 12, 2009

Next Saturday, September 12th is Davie Day, downtown...and what a place to shoot!!

Mike Sommer, a member of our Vancouver Wedding Photogs group, has been emailing me with an idea that he would love to have going next year, so he can have more time to get all the logistics down... a Davie Day photo contest!

What he was thinking:

"It would be great if we can get a group of photographers together to take some photos and get to know one another. As photographers I thought that it would be also a lot of fun if we could have a contest and then post the top photos on Facebook for people to vote on.

3 objects/ things to be captured on the day and can then vote on them as a group afterward:

Historical Theme (dress, mock village...)
Street performers
Food

I do not know if I can arrange any prizes this late but will for next year."

What a great idea, hey?!

So why am i posting this, this year? So that you can take yourself down to Davie Day next weekend and have a boo around..maybe even meet up with Mike down there and throw some fabulous ideas around for next year and how, as photographers, we can make a go at this event.

news re: JARED PLATT WORKSHOP

so this afternoon i posted about the lightroom workshop by jared platt that is in vancouver sept 10.

then i tweeted that he is looking for a venue and the person to "donate" their studio space would participate in the workshop for no cost.

jeanie of STUDIOjeanie has graciously offered her studio...yay!!!

but it gets better!!

there is seating for maximum 12 people..and the MORE people that sign up, jared himself has said you, the participants will get money back.

so...if you or anyone you think could use some great new skills regarding Lightroom, then THIS is the workshop you need to sign up for..right now. do it. go.. k go.. ;)
